Who are refugees and how can we help them?
What do people mean when they talk about 'refugees'? By completing this iQuest you will learn about what it means to be a refugee and the challenges they face when they arrive in Australia. As you navigate through this iQuest you'll be learning about the needs of refugees, interviewing a refugee guest speaker and developing important items that will equip you in creating a Refugee Welcome Pack, which could make a positive impact in the lives of new arrivals in our community.

There are millions of refugees all over the world, and many end up in Australia. It's important to remember that just because someone is/was a refugee, they are just regular people who face/have faced difficult journeys. Once they become established in new and safe environments, they contribute to their community just like any one of us. Their experiences and stories help define our rich multicultural identity. Unfortunately, refugees face difficult and dangerous journeys to get here, so it's our job to make them feel welcome and safe. How can we help them?
Refugee Welcome Pack Challenge
In small groups you will need to create a Welcome Pack for a newly arrived refugee student in your school. This Welcome Pack will provide a variety of information that will assist the refugee student to transition into their new life.
