What would you take?
Get your Learning Journal and locate the suitcase page. Draw items you would take in your suitcase and make sure you label them. Once you've done that, take your suitcase to the floor and be ready to discuss the items you took with the rest of the class. This discussion will be focussed on the model below.
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
Discussion Questions:
- What items did people find important?
- Were there items that were very common, why do you think they were?
- How does Maslow divide up the different needs people have?
- What is a need you hadn't thought about?
- What is an extra item you might take?
Hierarchy of Needs Poster
The Refugee Hierarchy of Needs poster is a group task, so you will need to work with your group to design and build it.
Design brief:
"Make a poster for a Hierarchy of Needs that focusses specifically on the needs of refugees. Your poster must include ideas from your discussion above, ideas you develop from analysing Maslow's Hierarchy, and must be made with classroom materials. It must be creative and eye-catching, and suitable for classroom display."

Now you've reached the end of Task 2, record ideas in your Learning Journal that might be useful additions to your Welcome Pack. Try to focus these ideas around areas of need you hadn't thought about before.
